Description of his BEARNE Family Website: One-name study site dedicated to the surname BEARNE. There are various theories for the names origins, one being that it may have been French. During the 1600's there were Huguenot's that fled from Bearne in France to escape Catholic persecution and settled around Newton Abbot, Devon, but some may have come to England before this time.
